Retail plans get nod from commission

May 04, 2004|by TARA REILLY

Plans for a Kohl's department store, seven other retail shops and a restaurant were approved Monday night by the Washington County Planning Commission. The businesses will be located in the Crosspoint shopping center on Cole Road near Valley Mall in Halfway.

The Planning Commission unanimously approved the preliminary subdivision plat and the site plan for the project.

Kohl's and a strip of five shops will be located on the west side of Target, while two stores and a restaurant will be built on other parcels on the property, according to planning documents.

Senior Planner Tim Lung said the shops and restaurant that will locate in the center have not yet been identified.

Hekemian & Co. of Hackensack, N.J., is developing the property.

The project is part of the second phase of Crosspoint. The first section included Target and Michaels arts and crafts store.

Christopher Bell, who works out of Hekemian & Co.'s Annapolis office, said in January that about 200,000 square feet would be added to the shopping center.
