HICKORY, N.C. - The Hickory Crawdads rallied for six runs in the bottom of the ninth inning off relief pitchers Jesse English and Joe Bateman to beat the Hagerstown Suns 9-8 on Monday night.
With two outs and Hickory trailing 8-6, Bobby Kingsbury belted a walkoff three-run homer off Bateman (1-1) to lift the Crawdads (11-10).
The Suns (8-13) scored five unearned runs in the top of the fourth for a 6-1 lead. Jon Coutlangus delivered the big blow with a two-run single.
After Kingsbury tripled and scored on Joe Benick's groundout to make it 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth and Mike McCustion homered to make it 6-3 in the fifth, the Suns got the two runs back in the top of the sixth on Nate Schierholtz's RBI double and Mike Wagner's RBI single to make it 8-3.
