WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A Waynesboro woman was killed and at least two other people were injured Sunday afternoon when a convertible carrying five people ran off Polidor Road in Quincy Township, Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner said.

Danielle Vaughn, 22, of 1191/2 W. Third St., was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m. at Waynesboro Hospital, Conner said. The cause of death was multiple blunt-force trauma to the head and chest, Conner said.

Conner said Vaughn was the driver of the Volkswagen Cabriolet convertible. One passenger in the car was taken to Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown and another was later transferred to the hospital from Waynesboro, he said.

Conner had no information on the other occupants of the car.

The accident was called in at 5:37 p.m., according to Conner. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the accident, but had not released any details as of late Sunday.

"They must have hit the hill and lost control," said David Polidor Jr. of 10160 Polidor Road. Near the point where the accident took place, he said the road goes uphill, then turns right past the crest.

From his home, Polidor said he could see a white vehicle overturned in a ravine.

He said the crash occurred before heavy rain hit the area.

"There was a guy killed here about 10 years ago on a motorcycle, basically in the same place," he said.
