Quiznos coming to Waynesboro area

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Every 16 hours, a new Quiznos Sub restaurant opens somewhere in the world, according to the company's Web site. Waynesboro will soon gets its turn.

Quiznos is tentatively scheduled to open in the Food Lion shopping center in July, company spokeswoman Amber Griffin said Tuesday.

The shopping center, which opened in July 2001 across from Midvale Road in Washington Township, Pa., is owned by Timber Development of Longwood, Fla. Quiznos will open in the only vacant store in the shopping center, said Timber Development's Mike Timmons.

The franchisee for the new restaurant is Stephanie Horwath, Griffin said. Horwath could not be reached Tuesday or Wednesday.

There are more than 2,500 Quiznos restaurants worldwide in 15 countries, the Web site said. The first Quiznos opened in 1981 in Denver.

Quiznos offers a line of signature subs on toasted buns as well as salads, soups and desserts, the Web site said.

The new Waynesboro-area store will employ about a dozen people on rotating shifts, Griffin said.
