North bats send Boonsboro reeling

BOONSBORO - Matt Murray had two hits and four RBI for North Hagerstown as the Hubs beat Boonsboro 11-1 in an MVAL Antietam game. Also for the Hubs (6-5, 4-1) Trevor Hullinger and Kyle Robinson each had two hits while T.J. Hose struck out 10 batters.

Matt Fortese had two hits for Boonsboro (4-7, 1-6).

South Hagerstown 11, Catoctin 9

THURMONT, Md - Josh Bussard had four hits and four RBI for South Hagerstown in a win overCatoctin. Also for the Rebels Bryson Appel and Patrick Hutzler had two hits each for Rebels.

Will Delawter and Zack Ausherman each had two RBI for Catoctin (6-6, 3-3).

Hedgesville 3, Musselman 2

INWOOD, W.Va. - Dirk Webb hit the game-winning home run for Hedgesville (10-4) as Eagles edged Musselman in eight innings. Webb also had a double in the game and Cody Seibert went 2-for-4 for Hedgesville. Terry Whittington had three hits for Musselman.

Waynesboro 13, Shippensburg 3

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Jordan Reitz and Josh Mummert each had three hits for Waynesboro as the Indians beat Shippensburg. Brian Lisko, Shawn Hindman and Derek Shaffer each added two hits for Waynesboro (6-3) while Jared Helman struck out eight.

Walkersville 5, Frederick 1

FREDERICK, Md. - Cole Kidwell pitched a complete-game, four-hitter with seven strikeouts for Walkersville (10-2) in its win over Frederick (6-5). Josh Jacobsen had a triple and two RBI and Tyler Redick scored three times for the Lions. Mike Herald and Bruce Dorsey each doubled for Frederick.

Martinsburg 7, Fort Hill 2

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Brandon Armentrout went 4-for-4 with three doubles and Jeff Horst had a two-run home run for Martinsburg (5-7). Mark Albright and Garred Spataro each went 2-for-3 in the game.

ND Academy 16, Mercersburg 9

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Mercersburg couldn't contain Notre Dame's Carlos Rivera, who hit four home runs and collected nine RBI. Two of Rivera's blasts were over 400 feet to right field. All told, Notre Dame had eight round-trippers off the Blue Storm.

Josh Davis had three hits for Mercersburg (5-3) and Matt Engle had two ,including a triple.

McDonogh 10, St. John's-PH 0

FREDERICK, Md. - Hugh Wescott had the only hit for St. John's at Prospect Hall as the Vikings (8-7, 4-6) fell to McDonogh in MIAA action.

Northern Garrett 13, Hancock 1

HANCOCK - Preston Sisler threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and Chad Carr homered to lead Northern Garrett.

Carr had two hits and three RBI for the Huskies. Alex Younker had an RBI single for the Panthers (2-8).

Boiling Springs 4, Greencastle 0

BOILING SPRINGS, Pa. - Bobby Group took the loss for Greencastle in the Blue Devils' (9-5) shutout defeat at the hands of Boiling Springs.

Middletown 5, Tuscarora 2

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Clayton Boyer went 2-for-3 with two RBI while David Wallace had two hits and pitched a complete-game as Middletown (4-7) defeated Tuscarora.


Brunswick 15, Williamsport 9

WILLIAMSPORT, Md. - Heather Termohlen went 5-for-6 and Carly Epley hit a first-inning, two-run homer as Brunswick (7-1, 4-1) beat Williamsport (7-4).

Sarah Harden hit a second-inning grand slam for Williamsport and Adrien Munoz added a solo homer in the seventh. Munoz, Harden and Courtney Hutchinson each had two hits for Williamsport.

Catoctin 12, South Hagerstown 0

THURMONT, Md. - Alecia Brandenburg threw a no hitter with 10strikeouts for Catoctin (9-2, 7-0) as the Cougars beat South Hagerstown in an MVAL Antietam match-up.

Waynesboro 4, Carlisle 3

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jenna Bakner had two hits, including the game winning hit as Waynesboro beat Carlisle. Amanda Mummert and Erin Keller each added two hits for Waynesboro (7-4, 5-3).

Westminster 11, TJ 0

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Thomas Johnson managed just two hits in an MVAL Chesapeake loss to Westminster.

Jessie Hanlin and Kathy Zaleski had the only hits for the Patriots (1-8, 0-7).

Boonsboro 7, North Hagerstown 6

Janet Cole had three hits for Boonsboro while Amanda Cole had two hits and Jessie Ambrose drove in the game winning run.

Fannett-Metal 24 McConnellsburg 8

MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Mandy Deshong had three hits including a solo home run, and Brittany Buterbaugh added three hits in a losing effort for McConnellsburg (0-5). Sarah Taylor, Hilary Deshong, and Trish Siders each had two hits for McConnellsburg.

Chestnut Ridge 3, So. Fulton 1

FISHERTOWN, Pa. - Southern Fulton (2-5, 2-3) scored a lone fifth-inning run and was held to three hits in a Sideling Hill League loss to Chestnut Ridge.


Bradshaw busts par

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Jefferson graduate David Bradshaw fired an even-par 72 to finish the three-day West Virginia Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship at 1-under par 215 to gain first-team honors. The only golfer to break par was medalist Tim Fisher of Glenville State, three strokes better than Bradshaw.
