COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Several new faces made names for themselves as the Maryland football team held its first scrimmage of spring practice on Saturday at Byrd Stadium.

Grayshirt and true freshman quarterback Dan Gronkowski led a pair of scoring drives, throwing a 16-yard TD to Greg Powell to cap one and plunging in from the 1-yard line on the other. He finished 7 of 8 for 108 yards and a TD with no interceptions.

Redshirt freshman Wesley Jefferson, one of the top high school prospects at inside linebacker in the Class of 2003, led all defenders with 12 tackles, including seven solo stops.

The quarterbacks were once again the focus of the day as the Terrapins look to replace two-year starter Scott McBrien. The Terps quarterbacks all performed well, going a collective 32 of 50 for 459 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.
