Washington County District Judge Ralph H. France II found probable cause Tuesday to forward to Circuit Court the case of a Hagerstown man accused of assaulting and raping a woman, court records say.

Records say eight charges against Matthew H. Hunt Jr., 30, of 103 E. Washington St., Apt. 2E, were forwarded to Washington County Circuit Court.

Hunt was charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, second-degree rape, a second- and fourth-degree sex offense, false imprisonment and two counts of second-degree assault in connection with multiple incidents in February, records say.

A Hagerstown woman alleged Hunt choked her on Feb. 7, approached her with a steak knife and punched her on Feb. 11, and forced her to have intercourse on Feb. 16, according to records.
