Evelyn L. McMullen


GERMANTOWN, Md. - Evelyn Louise McMullen, 79, formerly of 3 Willow Spring Court, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 25, 1925, in Travilah, Md., she was the daughter of the late Otis and Helen Ward Shipe.

She was a 1944 graduate of Gaithersburg (Md.) High School and a 1952 graduate of Washington Bible Institute, where she received a teaching degree.

She was employed by Asbury United Methodist Home, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of Derwood (Md.) Alliance Church.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lowell McMullen of Hagerstown; one son, Lowell McMullen of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren, Scott McMullen of Hagerstown and Kelly Seely of Wormleysburg, Pa.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

At the request of the family, there will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown.

G. Anna Mae Stouffer


Due to an editorial assistant's error, the obituary of G. Anna Mae Stouffer, 78, of 11 E. Poplar St., Funkstown, who died Monday, April 5, 2004, contained incorrect information. She was known as G. Anna Mae Stouffer. The name of the her daughter was Patty A. Glisson of Rincon, Ga. A corrected obituary is on this page.

Sharon Ann Gay


SHARPSBURG - Sharon Ann Gay, 44, of Sharpsburg and formerly of Frostburg, Md., died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 12, 1960, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Bernard A. and Phyllis C. Livengood Keating of Hagerstown.

She was a 1978 graduate of Williamsport High School.

She was employed by the Department of Social Services.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Funkstown American Legion Post 211 Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and Saturday Night Mixed Bowling League.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, R. Scott Gay, whom she married Feb. 7, 1998; two sons, Justin W. Hamilton and David W. Starleper Jr., both at home; three sisters, Karen M. Ridenour of Las Vegas, Tina M. Wolfensberger of Halfway and Julie A. Slusarz of Fairplay; maternal grandmother Gladys M. Livengood of Frostburg; one niece; three nephews; and aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by one niece.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The Rev. Chris Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at noon.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

G. Anna Mae Stouffer


FUNKSTOWN - G. Anna Mae Stouffer, 78, of 11 E. Poplar St., died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 16, 1925, in Tomstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ralph D. and Carrie Mae Sheffler Honodel.

She was employed by Hobart Corp. in Williamsport until 1989.

She was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church and the Bykota Sunday school class.

She was a member of Women of the Moose, Hagerstown Chapter 342; American Legion, Dixon-Troxell Auxiliary Unit 211 of Funkstown; and Second Wind Club.

She is survived by her husband, George W. Stouffer; one son, Ronald L. Aldridge of Falling Waters, W.Va.; three stepdaughters, Carolyn V. Cox of Ellabell, Ga., Patty A. Glisson of Rincon, Ga., and Melinda S. Kitchen of Bedington, W.Va.; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte R. Miller; and four brothers, Robert Honodel, Junior Honodel, Dick Honodel and Harry Honodel.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Wesley G. Scouten will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, Pa.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Irene E. Poffenberger


BOONSBORO - Irene Elizabeth Poffenberger, 88, of Reeders Memorial Home and formerly of 32 Center St., died Monday, April 5, 2004, at the home.

Born Oct. 6, 1915, in Clevelandtown, Md., she was the daughter of the late John L. and Ruth S. Alexander Reeder.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira G. Poffenberger, in 1980.

She retired from Londontown Manufacturing.

She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and was the church historian.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice M. Frye of Rohrersville, Md., and Dolores M. Grim of Sharpsburg; two sisters, Mae Pierce of Hagerstown and Bettie Hull of Boonsboro; one brother, Ernest Reeder of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
