Donald E. Ott


MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Donald Eugene Ott, 72, of 309 Cooper Lane, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at his home.

He was the son of the late Charles Ott and Helen Wagner Ott.

He graduated from McConnellsburg High School with the class of 1950. He was an active participant in baseball, basketball and soccer during his high school years.

He worked at Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove, Pa., as a test track technician.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church Of Christ.

He was a member of McConnellsburg VFW, Mercersburg VFW Post 6241, Great Cove Golf Club, McConnellsburg Sportsman, McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. and McConnellsburg American Legion Post 561.

In the late 1950s, he played baseball for American Legion Post 561 and in the mid-1950s for Fort Loudon under the coaching of John Hopkins.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Ott, whom he married June 21, 1957; one daughter, Christine D. Beale of West Chester, Pa.; one son, Troy C. Ott of Coatesville, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. The Rev. Barron Barley will officiate. The Fulton Honor Guard will have a military service.

Arrangements are being handled by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg.




Esther A. Yost


MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Esther A. Ray Yost, 86, of 18 Hillside Estate, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at Fulton County Medical Center.

She was the daughter of the late Sanner Ray and Blanche Keyser Ray.

Her husband, Frank W. Yost, died in 1986.

She worked at J.C. Murphy's as a clerk.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She was a member of VFW Post Auxiliary 655 and McConnellsburg American Legion Post 561.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Y. Sipes of McConnellsburg; two sons, Allen Yost of Griffin, Ga., and Robert Yost of Hudson, Mass.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg. The Rev. Henry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 2 to 9 p.m.




Donald W. Yost Sr.


MONT ALTO, Pa. - Donald W. Yost Sr., 98, a resident of Michaux Manor and formerly of Wayne Building, 94 W Main St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Aug. 1, 1905, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Peter W. and Lottie Lee Clopper Yost.

He was a 1924 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

He had worked as a foreman of the painter department at Frick Co. from Aug. 2, 1932, until his retirement on Sept. 1, 1970.

He was a Protestant.

He had been a member of Eagles Club Inc., BPO Elks, Aries Eagles of Waynesboro and Booster Club of Frick Co. He also had a certificate for swimming at the YMCA at the age of 90.

He is survived by one son, Donald W. Yost Jr. of Mont Alto; two granddaughters; one great-grandchild; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Maxwell Yost and Marshall Yost.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery. The Rev. David Keener will officiate.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lochstampfor Funeral Home Inc., Waynesboro.

Marian E. Davis


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Marian E. Davis, 84, a resident of St. Catherine Laboure Manor, and formerly of East Madison St., Greencastle, Pa., died Friday, April 2, 2004, at the nursing center.

Born Oct. 5, 1919, in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late David and Alice Stoner Heckman.

Her husband, Charles E. Davis, died March 5, 1970.

She retired from Anvil Products of Greencastle.

She attended State Line United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319, Greencastle.

She is survived by one son, C. Dennis Davis of Jacksonville; two granddaughters, Jill Zeger of Greencastle and Amy Ambrose of Jacksonville; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Edith Diffenderfer, Mabel Davis, Helen Yeakle and Gail Sowers, and three brothers, Warren Heckman, Frank Heckman and Richard Heckman.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle. The Rev. David G. Rawley will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Francis J. Rowland


CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Francis J. Rowland, 82, of Belvedere Heights, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 17, 1921, in Charles Town, he was the son of the late Mike and Ethel Roper.

He was a retired auto mechanic with Harpers Ferry Job Corps.
