Church plans cross building

April 02, 2004

An opportunity to make a cross such as the one on which Christ was crucified will be available Saturday, April 10, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ at Hagerstown, 10014 White Hall Road.

Eric Johnson of Kearneysville, W.Va., a historical blacksmith, will direct the project. Johnson will provide the trees and the tools as well as the wooden pegs and iron spikes.

Methods of construction will mirror those from that period.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to bring a can of vegetables or some pre-cooked stew meat to add to the lunch pot that all will share at noon. Also bring enough bread or crackers to share. Drinks will be provided.

If interested in attending, call 301-733-5244.

The church can be reached by turning left onto Beaver Creek Road off U.S. 40 east of Hagerstown. Turn left on White Hall Road to the church, which is about a half-mile on the left.
