Man wounded in robbery attempt in Pa.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - An attempted armed robbery on South Church Street on Friday night ended with one man treated at Waynesboro Hospital for a gunshot wound, according to a press release from Borough Police Chief Ray Shultz .

According to police, Jose Fausto, 26, of 17 S. Church St., was standing in front of his residence with three other men around 10:30 p.m. when they were approached by two men, One of them held a gun to Fausto's neck and demanded money.

When the armed man reached into Fausto's pants pocket, Fausto pushed the gun away. It went off when the two struggled. The two men then fled the scene, police said.

A short time later, a man came to the emergency room for treatment of a gunshot wound, police said.

Shultz, in his release, said the investigation is continuing to determine if the attempted robbery and shooting are related.

It could not be learned Saturday if an arrest had been made.
