March 26, 2004

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Fannettsburg, Pa., woman was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Court to 58 months to 40 years in state prison for participating in and photographing the sexual molestation of a young girl, court records said.

Margaret A. Neil, 41, of 11316 Creek Road was sentenced by Judge Carol Van Horn on a charge of criminal conspiracy to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, according to court records. She was given nearly six months credit for time already served in the county prison.

Van Horn ordered that Neil be subject to Pennsylvania's Megan's Law for 10 years after her release, during which she must register with local police wherever she lives.

In September 2003, Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into the molestation of a 13-year-old girl that began in 2002, according to the affidavit of probable cause. As a result, Neil and Raymond Neil, 40, also of 11316 Creek Road, were charged.

The affidavit stated both had sexual relations with the girl and that Margaret Neil photographed the girl having sexual contact with Raymond Neil.

Margaret Neil pleaded guilty to the charge in exchange for several other charges being dismissed, court records said.

Raymond Neil pleaded guilty to rape on Feb. 20, court records stated. He was ordered to undergo an assessment by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board before sentencing.
