Jury finds Hagerstown man not guilty in pizza robbery

A Washington County Circuit Court jury on Wednesday found a Hagerstown man not guilty of holding up a pizza deliveryman in February near his Park Place home.

The jury found Quintel Owens, 19, of 437 Park Place, innocent of the charges of robbery, armed robbery, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, using a handgun in the commission of a felony, carrying a handgun, theft less than $500 and second-degree assault.

According to charging documents, a pizza deliveryman delivered a pizza to 437 Park Place on Feb. 28 at about 7:30 p.m. The deliveryman walked back to the car and was approached by a man carrying a handgun, according to court documents.

The man demanded money from the deliveryman, but the deliveryman refused, according to charging documents.

The man with the gun took the money bag containing about $58 and ran and the deliveryman drove to the Hagerstown Police Department to report the theft, according to charging documents.
