Woman remains in hospital after crash

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A woman was taken by helicopter to Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown following a head-on collision Thursday evening on Chestnut Hill Road, a Jefferson County 911 dispatcher said.

Kimberlee Jones was listed in fair condition at Washington County Hospital Friday evening, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Jefferson County Deputy Robert Sell said he didn't know Jones' age or address.

The accident happened at 6:46 p.m. on Blue Ridge Mountain. Sell said one driver ran off the slick and windy road, which connects W.Va. 9 and U.S. 340, fishtailed and then hit the other driver head-on.

Sell said Chestnut Hill Road can be "a rather bad stretch of road," especially during winter when roads get slick and cold from precipitation.

Search of schoolsends in three arrests

FREDERICK, Md. - A search of lockers and cars for drugs at 10 Frederick County high schools Monday and Tuesday led to the arrest of three youths charged with possession, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

Police said dogs scanned about 2,290 lockers and about 236 vehicles earlier in the week at the high schools with the cooperation of school resource deputies.

After a fourth youth acted suspiciously upon seeing police search for drugs, police searched the youth and found "a sizable amount of marijuana," police said.

A weapon was confiscated, a car was seized and numerous tobacco violations were found throughout the search, which was approved by the Frederick County Board of Education, police said.
