Highlights of the BOE budget

Following are some highlights of the Washington County Public Schools' proposed $158.3 million general fund operating budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1:

  • $56.6 million for classroom instructional programs

  • $30.3 million for employee benefits program

  • $13.1 million for facilities operations programs

  • $10.2 million for special education programs within the school system

  • $9.1 million for school principals and school staffs

  • $6.8 million for student transportation programs

  • $6.6 million for targeted instructional programs (such as student enrichment specialists and talented and gifted teachers)

  • $3.9 million for career technology programs

  • $3.6 million for special education programs at private or contracted centers

  • $3.3 million for facilities maintenance

  • $2.5 million for guidance programs

  • $2.4 million for school library programs

  • $1.9 million for the Office of Instructional Supervision
