March 13, 2004

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office is asking for help in finding a man who robbed ROCS on King Street early Thursday.

Police said that a man entered the store at about 5:28 a.m. Thursday asking for a quarter in exchange for two dimes and a nickel. As soon as the cashier opened the register, the man hopped up on the counter and grabbed the money while sitting on the counter, then left the store, police said.

No weapons were displayed, police said. The man simply ordered the woman to "get back" while he took the money, police said.

The robber is described as a white man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 3 inches and 150 pounds. He was wearing white sneakers, blue jeans, a very baggy gray sweatshirt and a black knit toboggan, police said.
