System maintenance could discolor water

March 12, 2004

Hagerstown officials warned Wednesday that water system maintenance this week along Jefferson Boulevard and Robinwood Drive could discolor water, but said the water will remain safe to drink, according to a news release.

The discoloration could damage clothes in washing machines, officials said.

The city Water and Sewer Department is working on water main lines along Robinwood Drive and Jefferson Boulevard between the city's East End and Smithsburg.

Officials recommend regularly checking water taps for discolored water. The city asks that anyone with questions call 301-739-8577, ext. 650.
