Allegheny Energy Inc. officials on Thursday named a successor to the utility's treasurer for the last six years, who is retiring.

Regis F. Binder has been vice president and treasurer since December 1998, according to a company press release.

Suzanne C. Lewis will take over in those positions effective April 1, company officials said.

Lewis will be responsible for the company's overall treasury strategy and operations. She also will manage Allegheny's relationships with bankers and rating agencies, company officials said.

Lewis, who joined Allegheny Energy last September, has been director of finance and re-engineering, led the company's efforts to optimize cost, managed rating agency relationships and provided oversight to the management of Allegheny's pension assets, according to the press release.
