March 07, 2004

A Pennsylvania woman has been charged with two traffic violations in connection with the accident Thursday that claimed the life of former Mount Airy Mayor Gerald R. Johnson, Maryland State Police said Saturday.

Sarah Kristin Miller, 18, of Johnstown, Pa., was served with traffic citations for unsafe lane change and negligent driving, according to Cpl. Tim Miller.

Johnson died when the 1989 Ford Bronco he was driving on Interstate 70 in Frederick County collided with a car and overturned at 5:40 p.m. Thursday, police said.

His wife, Patricia Johnson, 60, was in serious condition Saturday night at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
