The Hagerstown Police Department is trying to find a good Samaritan and the suspects he chased off Friday morning as they were assaulting a woman who was walking in the first block of North Potomac Street.

Detective Tammy Jurado said a woman walking down McCardle Alley, which runs behind Rocky's New York Pizza in the first block of North Potomac Street, was accosted Friday at 3:30 a.m. by two men.

She said a white man who was walking on North Potomac Street at the time heard the woman screaming and chased away her assailants.

One of the assailants was described as a white male, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with a very thin build and wearing a red, white and blue bandana, a black leather coat, black cowboy boots and blue jeans, Jurado said.

She said the second man was described as a black male, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with a medium build and wearing a flannel shirt and sweatpants. She said both men were described as being in their mid-20s and both had strong body odor.

Jurado said she wants to speak to the good Samaritan to see if he has any more information, and asked that he call her at 301-739-8577, ext. 246.
