Dickson, Morrison win pageant titles

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Jessica Lorraine Morrison was crowned Miss Jefferson County and Devon Dickson was crowned Miss Shenandoah Saturday night at Wright Denny Intermediate School.

Morrison, 19, is a freshman at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She is the daughter of Michael and Brenda Morrison of Martinsburg, W.Va.

Dickson, 24, is a student at Potomac State College. She is the daughter of John Dickson of Florida and Barbara Leonard of Martinsburg.

Both received $2,500 scholarships, a $500 Shepherd College scholarship and the chance to participate in the Miss West Virginia Scholarship Pageant June 18 to 20 in Morgantown, W.Va.


Eight contestants competed for the crowns.

First runner-up was Whitney Ayne Whittaker, 21, a junior at the University of South Carolina. She received a $1,200 scholarship. She is the daughter of Charles and Brenda Whittaker of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.

Jacqueline Truman, 20, a junior at Shepherd College, was second runner-up. The daughter of Brian Truman and Kim Pearson of Martinsburg, she received an $800 scholarship.

The $200 Kevin Johnson memorial award for the nonfinalist talent winner went to Dickson.

Truman received the $200 Gilbert C. Mobley nonfinalist interview award.

Each nonfinalist received a $200 scholarship.
