February 25, 2004

A power outage Sunday caused about 216,000 gallons of partially treated waste water to be released into George Creek from the Smithsburg Waste Water Treatment Plant, the Washington County Health Department said in a release.

Water contact, swimming and fishing at George Creek between the water treatment plant and Antietam Creek is prohibited, the release states.
