FREDERICK, Md. - No. 2 Thomas Johnson hit 13 of 18 free throws in the fourth overtime Monday to pull away for a 95-84 win over Linganore and clinch a tie for the MVAL Chesapeake Conference title.

"We led by about seven in the fourth and went to a delay offense, but we committed a couple of turnovers, they got it back and forced overtime," TJ coach Tim Abercrombie said. "After that, it was pretty much all a blur."

Drew Gaeng, who finished with 16 points, hit a fading 3-pointer with 4 seconds remaining in the third overtime to force the fourth extra period and allow the Patriots to avenge their only league loss. Linganore beat TJ 65-61 on Friday.

Colby Jackson had 17 points, Clinton Jones had 16, Matt Fast had 11 and Chad Warren added 10 for the Patriots (18-3, 10-1), who can clinch the conference with a victory Thursday at North Carroll.


Joe Alexander led Linganore (18-3, 9-2) with 22 points. Andrew Seamans had 18 points, Zack Hayes had 16 and Jake Cook 10.

No. 8 Middletown 71 Winters Mill 57

WESTMINSTER, Md. - John Keimig had 20 points and six assists as Middletown had five players in double figures in an MVAL Piedmont win over Winters Mill.

Joe Keimig had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists, while Jonathan Hall scored 15 points, Patrick Carney added 11 and Kyle Lear had 10 for the Knights (15-6, 7-2).

T.J. Connor scored 22 points for Winters Mill (2-19, 1-8).

Brunswick 58, Catoctin 53

THURMONT, Md. - Bill Bernard had 18 points, four steals, and four assists for Brunswick as the Railroaders edged out Catoctin for an MVAL Antietam win.

Craig Wachter scored 12 points, Jason Anderson had seven rebounds and both Chad Baker and Cody Hickerson added five boards each for Brunswick (9-12, 5-9).

K.C. Simmel led all scorers with 22 points for the Cougars (6-14, 4-8).


Magruder 51, No. 6 T. Johnson 43

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Kem Wilson led Thomas Johnson with 17 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots in the Patriots' loss to Magruder.

Porsche Dorsey scored 10 points and Erin Dickman had seven boards for Thomas Johnson (11-10).

No. 7 Catoctin 66, Brunswick 38

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Emily Balogh led all scorers with 26 points for Catoctin in the Cougars' MVAL Antietam victory over Brunswick.

Balogh added nine steals, while Sarah Wastler had eight assists and Ashley Metal added seven rebounds and seven steals for Catoctin (15-4, 13-0).

Leah McCallum had seven points and six rebounds for the Railroaders (7-14, 7-7).

Hancock 47, N. Garrett 38

ACCIDENT, Md. - Jennifer Willison led Hancock with 15 points and 14 rebounds as the Panthers defeated Northern Garrett.

Dana Beaver had 10 rebounds and Ashley Creek dished out seven assists for Hancock (12-9).
