Deadline nears to file FAFSA


March 1 is the deadline for high school seniors, college students and other prospective college students to file the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify for financial assistance through the West Virginia Higher Education Grant Program or the PROMISE Scholarship. The Common Application for State Level Financial Aid also is due March 1 for high school applicants to receive consideration for a Higher Education Grant.

The FAFSA may be filed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov; or through the traditional paper form, which may be obtained from high schools, financial aid officers or by calling the Office of Financial Aid and Outreach Services at 1-304-558-4614.

Electronic filing is recommended.

Family Math Night planned at North High


The North Hagerstown High School Mathematics Department is hosting Family Math Night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The evening's purpose is to showcase the Cognitive Tutor program, which combines textbook work with problem solving on the computer.

The presentation is designed for family members of North High's Algebra I students, and will provide an opportunity for hands-on experience with the print and software components of the program.
