Several apply for supervisor slot

February 20, 2004

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Half a dozen people have applied to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Washington Township Supervisor Richard Eigenbrode, Township Manager Mike Christopher told the board Wednesday night.

Christopher said one of the applicants was preliminarily ruled ineligible to fill the seat because the person had not lived in the township the required one year. More than six application forms have been picked up by township residents.

Anyone interested in the post has until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to return the application to the township office, Christopher said.

The applicants will get 10-minute interviews before the board at its workshop meeting that night. Christopher said the interviews will be open to the public.

Eigenbrode, 70, of 11575 Country Club Road, resigned Feb. 2 for health reasons. The person appointed to fill the vacancy will serve out the rest of Eigenbrode's term, which is due to expire at the end of 2005.

The board has 30 days from the time of Eigenbrode's resignation to appoint his replacement. Christopher said he anticipates a vote at the Monday, March 1, meeting of the board.
