Helen M. Snay


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Helen Marie Gossard Snay, 72, of 160 N. Oller Ave. in Waynesboro, who died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, also is survived by a brother, Dennis L. Gossard of Hagerstown.




Juanita P. Watson


CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Juanita P. Watson, 61, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at her home.

Born Feb. 7, 1943, in Paw Paw, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Love and Emma McBride Hockman.

She was a 1961 graduate of Charles Town High School.

She attended Charles Town Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Lester L. Watson; one daughter, Stacey Carson of Charles Town; one son, Gary Chicchirichi of Charles Town; three stepchildren, Donna Smith of Maine, Van Watson of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Melissa Smith of Charles Town; two sisters, Mary Merchant of California, and Judith Ross of Ohio; one brother, Jennings Hockman of Winchester, Va.; two grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert A. Cochran


HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Robert Allen Cochran, 57, of Hedgesville, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004.

Born Aug. 30, 1946, in Clarksburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clifford Cochran Sr. and Sophia Kovar Cochran.

He was a graduate of Victory High School in Clarksburg.

He was a carpenter and a building inspector for Loudoun County, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Dannetta Hays Cochran; one daughter, Lurah M. Cochran of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; two sons, R. Reese Cochran and Richard K. Cochran, both of Hedgesville; two sisters, Winona McFarland of Monrovia, Md., and Cheryl A. Ehrlich of Clarksburg; three brothers, Clifford Cochran Jr., John F. Cochran and William W. Cochran, all of Clarksburg; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Clarksburg. Dr. Homer Heater will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, and Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Clarksburg.

Thelma E. Eshleman


SMITHSBURG - Thelma Esteline Eshleman, 84, formerly of 21938 Durberry Road, Smithsburg, Md., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Hagerstown, Md.

Born June 25, 1919, in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late William L. and Alice Irene Everts Hull.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Daniel Eshleman Sr., on April 4, 1995.

She was a homemaker and worked with her husband in the family business for many years. She worked at the Leitersburg Peach Festival, and helped make the quilts that were raffled.

She was a member of Leitersburg Senior Citizens.

She was a member of Waynesboro Bible Church, was a deaconess for five years and helped with Camp Tahiglo.

She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn M. Heiks, and her husband, Scott, of Hagerstown; three sons, Raymond D. (Dan) Eshleman Jr. and wife, Judy, of Hagerstown, William L. (Bill) Eshleman, and wife, Patricia, of Kissimmee, Fla., and Charles E. Eshleman, and wife, Marilyn, of Waynesboro, Pa.; one sister, Leila V. Robinson of Clear Spring, Md.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Hull and Edith Spade.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Raymond D. Eshleman III and the Rev. Darell Gentry will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

William R. Johnson


William R. "Snurd" Johnson, 69, of 20526 Lehmans Mill Road, Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Avalon Manor.

Born Nov. 1, 1934, in Fiddlersburg, Md., he was the son of the late Arthur Delmar and Helen Williams Johnson.

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was employed by Eastalco Aluminum in Frederick, Md., for 30 years, retiring in 1996.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He enjoyed woodworking, golfing and fishing.
