WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A 45-year-old Waynesboro man has been released on bond after Waynesboro Police charged him with threatening to shoot a woman over a parking spot in front of his house that he had cleared of snow.

Randy George Smith, of 24 N. Franklin St., was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct. He was released from Franklin County Prison on $15,000 bond, a prison spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Police said the woman, who they did not name, was visiting a friend in the first block of North Franklin Street on Saturday around 7 p.m., when she heard a vehicle horn blowing continually.

She went out to the front porch of the house where she was visiting. A man inside a pickup truck began to yell at her and challenged her to come off the porch and fight with him, police said.

The two argued loudly and the man told the woman that he had a gun and that he would shoot her, police alleged.

Investigators found the truck parked in front of 20 N. Franklin St. Smith told them that he was upset because someone had parked in the space that he had cleared of snow.

Police said they found a .357-caliber handgun on the front seat of the truck.

Smith was arraigned before District Justice David Hawbaker.
