Frederick thumps Hawks

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick Community College buried 12 3-pointers on its way to an 81-58 win over Hagerstown Community College in a Maryland JuCo game Monday.

Eylon Bush scored 17 points and James Lane had 16 to lead FCC, which jumped to a 41-32 halftime lead.

Thomas Johnson led the Hawks (16-7) with 13 points, Jamal Kittelberger had 11 points and Ray Gamble pulled down seven rebounds.

Bethany 93, Hood 90

WHEELING, W.Va. - Josh Polantz hit the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired in overtime to lead Bethany College past Hood College.

Following Santo Provenzano's jump shot to tie the game at 90-90 with just under 3 seconds left, Polantz sprinted down the court and heaved a 30-footer that sealed the Blazers' fate.


Provenzano also made a layup at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime. He finished with a game high 34 points, while Darnell Edmonds added 19. Sean Robine had 12 points, Dennis Tressler had 11 and David Wilson grabbed 13 rebounds for Hood (10-10).

Shepherd 84, Pitt-Johnstown 76

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - Mark Jennings had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead Shepherd College past Pittsburgh-Johnstown.

Jennings became the 33rd player in Rams history to reach 1,000 career points when he hit a 3-pointer at the 10:10 mark in the second half. He is just the sixth player in history to reach the plateau in only two seasons.

Danley Shank had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Brady Catlett added 17 points and 11 boards for the Rams (12-9). Esosa Imoisili had 11 points.


Howard 84, HCC 71

Tierra Wilkins and Jasmine Charon each had 18 points to lead Howard Community College to a Maryland JuCo win over Hagerstown Community College in the Hawks' regular-season home finale.

Veronica Johnson had 12 points, seven assists and four steals and Alicia Romero had nine rebounds and four steals for Hagerstown (13-11, 7-6). Eariel Gholson, Dee Brown and Kristy Long each had 13 points.


No. 4 Walkersville 72 Century 67

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Brock McCollum had 19 points to lead four Walkersville players in double figures as the Lions defeated Century in MVAL Piedmont action.

Luther Weedon had 18 points and five steals, Dave Berry had 14 points and six assists and Chris Hannigan added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions (14-3, 5-0).

Ryan Dantoni led Century (6-7, 2-2) with 24 points.

No. 7 Chambersburg 65 Bishop McDevitt 52

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Colby Nitterhouse had 16 points and seven steals to lead Chambersburg past Bishop McDevitt in the Mid-Penn Commonwealth.

Jonathan Motichka added 17 points for the Trojans (12-11, 4-3 second half). Matt George had 13 points and Josh Mayhugh added eight rebounds.

Spalding 61, SJPH 57

FREDERICK, Md. - Archbishop Spalding went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line in the final two minutes of the game and the Cavaliers edged St. John's at Prospect Hall in the MIAA A Conference.

Justin Castlebury had 14 points and Marquis Sullivan added 10 for Spalding (21-4, 11-2), which moves into a first-place tie with Mount St. Joseph's in the A Conference.

Sam Sentz had 10 points and seven rebounds and Jared Lyons also had 10 points for the Vikings (9-15, 4-10). Gonzalo Aparico had nine points and Al Sowers had five assists in the loss.

Big Spring 58, Greencastle 53

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Brian Dodson had 16 points, but it wasn't enough as Greencastle dropped a Mid-Penn Colonial game to Big Spring.

Greencastle (6-16, 3-10) pulled into a 44-44 tie through three quarters, but Big Spring pulled away in the fourth period to grab the win.

Clayton Marquiss had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Erick Burkholder added 12 points and nine rebounds for Greencastle.

S. Fulton 59, Hyndman 23

HYNDMAN, Pa. - Will Schriver had 12 points and five rebounds as Southern Fulton routed Hyndman in the Sideling Hill League.

Danny True had 10 points, Chris Krause had nine and Jay Ifert had six assists, four steals and four blocked shots for the Indians (16-5, 11-3).


No. 5 JB 60, Shippensburg 41

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Shaina Martin had 12 points and six rebounds to lead James Buchanan to a Mid-Penn Colonial win over Shippensburg.

Amanda Snider had 10 points, five assists and six steals and Courtney West had seven rebounds for the Rockets (17-5, 10-3).

Chestnut Ridge 54 No. 9 Southern Fulton 46

FISHERTOWN, Pa. - Chestnut Ridge jumped out to a 17-4 first quarter and went on to beat Southern Fulton in a Sideling Hill League game.

Megan Frasier had 15 points, Jill Davis had 13 and Kayla Late added 12 for Chestnut Ridge (9-13, 8-7).

Sam Cain led Southern Fulton (17-5, 11-3) with 21 points and Brandy Swope had 14.

Big Spring 56, Greencastle 43

NEWVILLE, Pa. - Amy Fry had 16 points and Randy Jones added 14 to lead Big Spring past Greencastle in a Mid-Penn Colonial contest.

Jess Statler had 21 points and five rebounds and Jessica Ritchey added nine points, five assists and five steals for Greencastle (8-13, 4-10). Whitney Meyers had eight rebounds and six assists.
