Roundup - Shank paces Rams past Ohio Valley

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Danley Shank had 24 points and made seven of eight free throws as Shepherd defeated Ohio Valley 82-64 on Thursday night.

Matt Slaninka and Mark Jennings added 15 and 14 points, respectively, for Shepherd (10-9, 7-5 WVIAC).

Derrick Whiteside, the only player to score in double figures for Ohio Valley (3-16, 2-8), had 19 points. Chris Cobbina, who averages 19 points a game, was held to nine.


HCC 92, Catonsville 53

BALTIMORE - Veronica Johnson set a Hagerstown Community College record for 3-pointers in a game with nine as the Hawks rolled to a Maryland JuCo win over Catonsville Community College.

The 5-foot-6 freshman broke Keri Zittle's record of eight 3-pointers set back in the 1994-95 season.

She made her first seven shots - six of which were 3s - and finished 11-for-14 for 31 points in only 25 minutes of playing time.


Dee Brown had 11 points and Eariel Gholson added 10 in the win. Kristy Long grabbed 11 rebounds.

HCC (13-10, 7-5) will play Howard in its last regular-season home game Monday.


No. 5 J. Buchanan 39, Greencastle 20

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Amanda Snider and Alicia Meyers each had 12 points to lead James Buchanan to a Mid-Penn Colonial win over Greencastle.

Kris Root led the Blue Devils (9-12, 4-8) with seven points, while Jess Statler grabbed seven rebounds.

No. 9 So. Fulton 60, McConnellsburg 50

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Sam Cain had 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead Southern Fulton to a Sideling Hill League victory over McConnellsburg.

Kristy Swope had 11 points and Candace Bard added 10 points and four assists for the Indians (16-4, 10-2), who notched the win despite hitting only seven of 26 free throws.

Jade Anthony led McConnellsburg (7-14, 5-11) with 13 points.

North 41, Williamsport 36

Cara Thompson hit three free throws in the final 11 seconds to ice North Hagerstown's win over Williamsport in the MVAL Antietam.

Thompson finished with a game-high 18 points for the Hubs (6-8, 5-2). Chelsea Clark and Denicia Fulton each added nine points in the win.

Lindsey Plotner had 10 points for Williamsport (4-10, 3-4).

Brunswick 60, South 34

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Leah McCallum had 19 points, 21 rebounds, seven assists and six steals as Brunswick used a 21-6 second quarter outburst to doom South Hagerstown in the MVAL Antietam.

Ashley Love had 13 points and Alicia Stauffer added six steals and four assists for the Railroaders (4-10, 4-3). Rebecca McCallum had six rebounds.

Carrie Brown had 14 points and Sade Williams added 12 for South (1-14, 1-6).

Heritage 46, Grace 30

Heidi Stamper had 14 points and 16 rebounds to lead Heritage Academy to a Mason Dixon Christian Conference win over Grace Academy.

Heather Stamper had 14 points and eight steals for the Eagles (13-5, 6-2). Jamie Dudeck also had eight steals in the win.

Danielle Sowers had 14 points and 14 rebounds for Grace (1-11, 1-8).

Shalom 40, Faith 15

MARION, Pa. - Cayla Rohrer had 10 points and Sheniece Strite added eight to lead Shalom Christian Academy (7-9, 6-4) to a MDCC win over Faith Christian Academy.

Rohrer and Strite also had five steals each for Shalom.

Kristen Williams scored all 15 points for Faith (0-9, 0-9).


Frederick 86, North Carroll 50

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick shot 61 percent from the floor (34-for-56) as it rolled to an MVAL Chesapeake victory.

Robbie Davis scored 14 points and Bradley Wiley added 12 points and nine assists for the Cadets (8-6, 5-2), who rolled to a 41-15 halftime lead.

Red Land 64 Waynesboro 51

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Scott Livengood was the only Waynesboro player in double figures and the Indians fell to Red Land.

Livengood finished with 13 points, while Kevin Sanders had nine and Earl Hewitt added eight for Waynesboro (6-16).

Grace 50, Heritage 39

Jack Sharkey scored 11 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to lead Grace Academy to a Mason Dixon Christian Conference win over Heritage Academy in overtime.

Sharkey also had 17 rebounds and Darren Sweeney added 16 points for the Knights (6-9, 5-5).

Drew Kidd had 16 points and Zach Hartman added 10 for Heritage (9-7, 6-2).

Shalom 61, Faith 30

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Josh Raber had 12 points and Greg Gayman 11 as Shalom Christian Academy (15-0, 10-0) stormed past Faith Christian in MDCC play.

Justin Way had 12 points, while Chris Apple added 11 points and five rebounds for Faith (0-9, 0-9).

Notre Dame 92, Mercersburg 72

MIDDLEBURG, Va. - Shawn Christiansen scored a team-high 22 points, but it wasn't enough as Mercersburg Academy fell to Notre Dame Academy (Va.) on Wednesday.

Norman Winn and Joe Thompson each had 12 points and Eric Rahauser added nine for the Blue Storm (3-7).
