The Twiggs

Karen (Kesecker) and Vernon Sonny Twigg Sr. of Martinsburg, W.Va., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 4 2003, with a renewal of vows and exchange of rings at the First Church of the Nazarene. The Revs. Raymond Martin, James Riley and Raymond Moreland officiated.

A reception was held at Shepherdstown Fire Hall. More than 200 friends and relatives attended the event. The Twiggs' four sons and spouses are Vernon "Punner" and Donna Twigg, Jeffrey and Lisa Twigg, Rodney and Elizabeth Twigg, and Treavis and Kim Twigg, all of Martinsburg.

The Twiggs were married Oct. 12, 1953, at Washington Square Methodist Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Charles Lefew, now deceased.

Mrs. Twigg is the daughter of the late Rev. Albert V. and Mildred Risinger Kesecker. She retired from private duty nursing after 36 years of service at City Hospital in Martinsburg. She now volunteers.


Mr. Twigg is the son of the Forrest C. and Sarah Ashton Twigg. He retired from the B&O Railroad and City Hospital in Martinsburg. He now provides security at North Junior High School in Martinsburg.

They have four granddaughters and four grandsons.

The Klines

Steve and Mary Kline of Hagerstown celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on a cruise to the western Caribbean Ocean.

The Klines were married June 21, 1968, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leitersburg by the Rev. Donald Warrenfeltz, now deceased.

Mrs. Kline is the daughter of Charlotte Boyers of Hagerstown and the late Al Boyers, and the late Sally and Ed Wise. She is a secretary at South Hagerstown High School.

Mr. Kline is the son of the late Bettie and Pete Kline. He retired several years ago from the electrical construction trade.

They have two children and spouses, Staci and "Pork" Wallech and Craig and Sandy Kline, all of Hagerstown. They have seven grandchildren.
