Robert L. Swisher


SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - A memorial service for Robert L. "Bob" Swisher, 62, of Shippensburg Health Care Center, who died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Shippensburg Health Care Center. Pastor Francis Norton will officiate.

Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro, Pa.




Gunby E. Bailey


SOUTH MOUNTAIN, Pa. - Gunby E. Bailey, 94, of South Mountain Restoration Center, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at the center.

Born June 27, 1909, in Hebron, Md., he was the son of the late Odis and Stella Dove Bailey.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by a sister, Virginia Ross of Canyon Lake, Texas.

Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pa.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Pa.




William H. Harris


McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - William H. Harris, 67, of 592 Buchanan Trail, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Harrisburg (Pa.) General Hospital.

He was the son of Irene Harris of McConnellsburg and the late Charles H. Harris.

He worked for D.M. Bowman as a truck driver.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Sherry Heinbaugh, Brenda Mellott and Tracey Harris, all of McConnellsburg; a son, William Harris of McConnellsburg; two sisters, Doris Sheeder and D. Jane Souders, both of McConnellsburg; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg. Pastor Denver Plessinger will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open at 2 p.m.




Grace E. Monn


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Grace E. Harbaugh Monn, 73, of 11466 Buchanan Trail East, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at her home.

Born Feb. 18, 1930, in Rouzerville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Elbert C. and Bessie Mae Muth Harbaugh.

She attended Washington Township High School.

She was employed by Hull's Country Store in Rouzerville.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rouzerville.

She was a member of National AARP.

She is survived by her husband, H. Eugene Monn, whom she married Oct. 30, 1948; two sisters, C. Lorraine Martine of Quincy United Methodist Home in Quincy, Pa., and Adeline Plaine of Waynesboro; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Todd A. Monn; two sisters, Lucille Berlin and Patricia Hull; and six brothers, Harold Harbaugh, Rollin Harbaugh, Claude Harbaugh, Lewllyn Harbaugh, Richard Harbaugh and Randall Harbaugh.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. Philip Van Dam will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Raymond W. Stoddard Sr.


Raymond William "Ray" Stoddard Sr., 74, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at his home.

Born Oct. 7, 1929, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Howard W. and Lola Ellis Stoddard.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Doris L. "Pat" Stoddard.

He attended Hagerstown High School.

He was employed by Continental Baking Co. (Wonder Bread) for 37 years, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 212 and Teamsters 992.

He is survived by two daughters, Patti L. Butler of Boonsboro and Lisa A. Sallow of Owings Mills, Md.; a son, Raymond W. Stoddard Jr. of Hagerstown; and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Stoddard, and a grandson.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

James P. Showers


James Philip Showers, 86, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 16, 1917, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Philip and Louise Euglow Showers.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft for 33 years. He retired in 1983.

He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was a past master of Friendship Lodge 84 AF&AM and a member of Hagerstown Forest 95 Tall Cedars of Lebanon and Hagerstown Lodge 378 BPO Elks.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie Showers; a son, Steve Showers of Hagerstown; two sisters, Mary Jane McAllister of Salisbury, Md., and Helen Simmons of Pittsburg, Kan.; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Everett, and a brother, John Showers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown. The Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate.
