Pageant officials gearing up for annual event on Feb. 21 at HCC

Miss Washington County Stacy Miller had her photo taken with Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich a couple of weeks ago as she continues her reign.

Miller has represented Washington County very well, and has participated in more than 40 events during the past 12 months, according to pageant officials.

She has been active in schools, and also has helped a great deal with several community service projects and service groups.

She has performed the National Anthem at several events, including the Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting/Banquet and the Educators of the Year Awards.

Miller is using her earned scholarship to further her education, and is a full-time student at Hagerstown Community College. During the past year, she was pleased to be able to meet so many interesting people, including the governor, pageant officials said.

Miller, of Hagerstown, was crowned Miss Washington County in February 2003. She will be giving up her title at the pageant scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, at HCC.

Danielle McGarvey, also of Hagerstown, was crowned Miss Western Maryland also in February 2003, and will be giving up her title at the Feb. 21, pageant. McGarvey is a full-time student at Towson State University.

Both women did very well at the Miss Maryland Scholarship Program last June.

Contestants are signing up for the upcoming pageant, and more eligible young women are still being sought.
