Red Cross lists gift-wrapping proceeds

January 19, 2004

Julie Barr-Strasburg, executive director of the Washington County Red Cross, announced that the 2003 Caring Hands Gift Wrap Project held this past holiday season at Valley Mall raised $17,440 to help fund Red Cross services throughout the year in Washington County.

A total of 963 volunteer wrappers, who are the "hands and heart" of the operation, made the community project a success.

Sponsors this year were Cosmic Pet Products, Lee Ridenour, Mayflower Transit, Roy Rogers Restaurants, Valley Mall Restaurants - Hot Sam's, Arby's, Long John Silvers, Garfield's and U.S. Bistro.

"This project would not be possible without the continued financial support of our partner, the Valley Mall. Their generosity and community spirit is greatly appreciated," Barr-Starsburg said. "Finally, a special thank you also goes to those shoppers who patronize our gift wrap year after year. Thanks for wrapping with the Red Cross."
