BOYS BASKETBALL



Chuck Harrell had a game-high 19 points as Heritage Academy raced past Faith Christian Academy 71-29 Thursday in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference matchup.

Drew Kidd had 18 points and eight assists and Zack Hartman had 14 points and hauled in seven rebounds for the Eagles (7-5, 4-0). Andrew Shank came off the bench to grab a team-high 10 rebounds, while Harrell pulled down seven.

Towson Catholic 47 St. John's-PH 43


FREDERICK, Md. - St. John's at Prospect Hall had an opportunity to tie, or even win, the game with just under 10 seconds remaining, but turned the ball over on an errant pass and the Vikings fell to Towson Catholic in the MIAA A Conference.

Al Sowers led St. John's (7-9, 2-4) with 17 points and Sam Sentz added 10 to go with eight rebounds. Gonzalo Aparicio had five assists.

GIRLS BASKETBALL



No. 8 Southern Fulton 45 McConnellsburg 22


McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Jessie Wigfield had 13 points and 15 rebounds as Southern Fulton connected on 12 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away and defeat McConnellsburg in the Sideling Hill League.

Candace Bard had 11 points and 14 rebounds and Sam Cain added 13 points for the Indians (13-2, 8-1).

Krystle Howell scored six points for McConnellsburg (4-9, 3-7).

Heritage 50, Faith 13


Heidi Stamper had 18 points and 17 rebounds to lead Heritage Academy past Faith Christian Academy. Heather Stamper had 13 points and four steals for Heritage (11-2, 4-0).




MEN'S BASKETBALL



Salem International 75 Shepherd 74


SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - Shaun McKie hit a 3-pointer with less that 90 seconds remaining to life Salem International to a WVIAC victory over Shepherd College.

The Rams had two attempts to grab the lead inside the final minute but missed two 3-point shots and the Tigers held on for the win.

Danley Shank led Shepherd (5-6, 2-2) with 21 points, while Mark Jennings had 18 points and Ross Mitchell added 11. Esosa Imoisili had eight rebounds.

McKie led Salem (5-8, 3-1) with 16 points, while Rodney Willis had 13 and Phil McKnight added 12.

Hood 76, Keystone 70


FREDERICK, Md. - Santo Provenzano had 22 points and nine rebounds as Hood College outlasted Keystone College to remain undefeated at home.

David Wilson returned from a four-game absence to score 15 points and Dennis Tressler added 13 for the Blazers (5-7). Darnell Edmonds had eight assists.

Kevin Erb led Keystone (4-12) with 19 points before fouling out.




WOMEN'S BASKETBALL



Shepherd 78 Salem International 47


SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Ashley van Norden had 13 points and seven assists as Shepherd College rolled past Salem International in WVIAC action.

Ashana Cowans had 12 points and Cassie Murray, Lindsay Stewart and Casey Landrum each added 11 for the Rams (8-6, 4-2), who shot 52 percent from the field. LoToya Fisher grabbed seven rebounds.

Keisha Box led Salem International (3-9, 2-2) with 13 points.

Smithsburg 39, Clear Spring 16: Jimmy Burgess had eight points for Smithsburg (6-2).




BRIEFS



Rams' Dudinski honored


Shepherd College sophomore return specialist Dustin Dudinski recently made the honorable-mention list on Don Hansen's Football Gazette 2003 NCAA Division II All-America team.

Dudinski led the WVIAC in punt returns with a 14.4-yard average and was fifth in the conference in kick returns, averaging 28.7 yards per return. He returned both a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown and was named WVIAC Special Teams Player of the Week twice during the season.

Martinsburg vs. Jefferson hoops tickets to go on sale

Tickets to the Martinsburg vs. Jefferson boys basketball game Jan. 30 will be on sale at the Jefferson High School gymnasium Jan. 28-30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will also be a limited supply of tickets to be sold at Martinsburg High School Jan. 27-29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the main office.

Prices for the tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
