'I would just like to say that Social Services should be forcing child support on the mothers that walk out of the lives of their children. Nowadays, it's more the mothers that are abandoning their children than the fathers. I know a mother who has walked out on her daughter for the past year and a half and I think it's really sad that a mother can have a child and just completely forget she even exists."

"I have the recipe for cake mix cookies. A box of cake mix, 2 eggs, a half of cup of vegetable oil. Add your chocolate chips, nuts, raisins or whatever you want. Mix well and drop by the spoonful on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 8 to 10 minutes at 350. Let sit for about a minute before you remove them from the cookie sheets. They are really good but don't overcook them or they will get hard."

"I would like to thank the person who ran over my mailbox on Broadfording Road on Wednesday, Jan. 7, without so much as even leaving a note. You could at least have left a note apologizing for running over it. Now we have to replace it ourselves. It's people like you that make this a bad community to live in."

"Welcome to tacky town. Monster billboards are coming your way soon. The latest one is going up on Eastern Boulevard by the car wash. I'm thinking about seeing if I can put one up at my home in Oak Hill. What the heck are the leaders of Hagerstown doing about this?"

"A poem to my newspaper and mailcarrier. You panhandled through The Daily Mail, it's Christmas presents you seek to hail. I sat them out one day for you, you picked them up this much is true. My thank you I'm still waiting on, days and days have come and gone. I feel that you have never learned, to say thank you in return. So please, next year don't beg and plead, it saddens me to see your greed. No Christmas present from me you'll find, I'm not going to waste my time."

"Is Lowe's in Hagerstown going broke? Is that why we have to give them $25,000? They must be going broke."

"I just read where some person said about eating pork and sauerkraut. Sauerkraut is cabbage and I remember ever since I was a little kid, my mother always had cabbage on New Year's Day. She always said that was a sign of good luck and plenty of money coming in. I would like to know how this started, too."

"I see where Roscoe Bartlett is going to run again. He always shows up on the radio, the paper and everywhere else. It's that time of year for elections again."

"I want to add to comment about the F&M Bank in Boonsboro. I just want to say that Janet does a great job and she fills the empty spot that a wonderful caring teller left. I just wanted to let Jessica know how dearly missed she is and maybe one day you will come back to banking. We need more Jessicas and Janets in this world."

"In reference to the YMCA. It's nice that they built a new establishment for everyone to enjoy, but it would be even nicer if people could afford to join it. I recently called about a family membership. A middle class family can't even begin to be able to afford to join that place. Don't they think they should have more responsible rates so other people besides the rich can join?"

"I live on the top of Raven Rock Road and my mailing address is Sabillasville, Md. From 550 to Md. 64, there is no signs that say Raven Rock Road, even on the crossroads. We need a Raven Rock Road sign."

"I agree that the hospital should be moved because it would offer more parking for visitors and employees. If they could consider two hospitals, that would be more of a convenience."

"I know there is a lot of good cooks out there, so I would like to have a great recipe for Waldorf Salad for a serving of eight people."

"Why is it that South High will call you at 7 a.m. to see if your child is coming to school and they don't even start until 8:45 a.m. but if you call the school at 3:30 p.m. nobody answers? How come?"

"I am calling to comment on the 'Around Jonathan Street' correspondent Alesia Parson. She did a wonderful job reporting on the timeline of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There was a lot of information in there that I have never heard before. She did a wonderful job and I think she should be highly commended for it. Thanks."

"To the person who said that Chambersburg and Frederick Hospital both having shortage of beds at the same time Washington County had a shortage and they didn't need to rebuild. Well, if you would have been to either Frederick or Chambersburg in the past six months, you would have noticed that they both have expanded an extreme amount and they both have a leveled parking area and a leveled walkway, they are also new and up to date. Not like our old and decrepit place like we have here up on a hill."

"I have a problem and would like some help. My son will be turning 18 in the near future and his father, I use that term lightly, has only taken the time to see him twice in the entire time he's been on this earth. Once to actually see me, and then once when I called him on my son's ninth birthday. Oh, he came to see him at 10:30 at night and then with his new family, his girlfriend and her three children. Yes, he pays child support faithfully but what about my son's rights to have a father in his life? Is there some legal something somewhere that says he has the right to see his father if and when he wants to? He has the right to see my son, which he chooses not to, but what about the rights of my son? Can someone please answer this? It would be greatly appreciated."
