Ella J. Socks


WILLIAMSPORT - Ella Josephine Socks, 80, of 28 W. Church St., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 9, 1923, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Rena J. Nowell Socks.

She retired from Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, George W. Socks of Williamsport; two sisters, Viola L. Socks and Audrey Newlin, both of Williamsport; two brothers, Earl Socks of Williamsport and Carl Socks of Downsville; and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Socks and Thelma Banzhoff; and two brothers, Joseph G. Socks and William Socks.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home in Williamsport. The Rev. Marcia Mayor will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Williamsport.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.

Ralph W. Wade


FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Ralph W. Wade, 64, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Fayetteville.

Born June 4, 1939, in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Edith Myers Wade.

He had been an antiques dealer.

He was a member of Spirit in Christ Church in Chambersburg, Pa.

He is survived by one brother, Paul C. Wade of St. Thomas, Pa.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Tressie Seville and Deolore Wade; and two brothers, Alvin Wade and Richard Wade.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in St. Thomas. The Rev. Kevin Wade will officiate.

Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends Friday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.




Douglas E. Hughes


BOONSBORO - Douglas Eugene Hughes, 57, of 17827 Bakersville Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 16, 1946, in Rockville, Md., he was the son of Pauline Elizabeth Poffenberger Hughes of Boonsboro and the late Donald Eugene Hughes.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sisters, Jeanne Keeney of Boonsboro, Carolyn Winfield of Smithsburg, and Robin Kifer of Beaver Creek; one brother, Kenneth R. Hughes of Boonsboro; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald L. Hughes, Richard A. Hughes, and Monte V. Hughes.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. Burial will be in Bakersville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.




Jashua E. Frocke


BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Jashua Eugene Frocke, 18, of Bunker Hill, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born April 17, 1985, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Warren J. Jr., and stepmother Lori Frocke of Keedysville and Karen Frocke and her fianc, Lonnie Babington of Hedgesville, W.Va.

He worked in the construction industry.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two half sisters, Kaylee Frocke of Keedysville and Kayla Babington of Hedgesville; two half brothers, Jeremy Frocke of Keedysville and Lonnie Babington Jr. of Hedgesville; maternal grandparents, Richard Delauder of Alexandria, Va., and Sharon Heller of Funkstown; paternal grandparents, Warren Frocke Sr. of Washington, D.C. and Janet Frocke of Keedysville.

He was preceded in death by an aunt.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home in Brunswick, Md. Pastor Walter P. Fogarty will officiate. Burial will be in Park Heights Cemetery in Brunswick.




Anna B. Rowe


QUINCY, Pa. - Anna B. Ankerbrand Rowe, 90, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 9035 Gap Road, Waynesboro, Pa., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born July 24, 1913, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David and Winnie Potter Ankerbrand.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Rowe, in 2000. They were married June 19, 1931.

She attended Quincy schools.

She did seasonal work for Brown's Orchard and Mont Alto (Pa.) State Nursery.

She was a member of Waynesboro Bible Church, taught a Sunday school class, was a deaconess, was active in the Ladies Missionary Group, and assisted Summer Bible School.

She is survived by one daughter, V. Alice Gourley of Quincy United Methodist Home; one grandson, Garry E. Gourley of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma Smith; and four brothers, Donald Ankerbrand, Woodrow Ankerbrand, Robert Ankerbrand and Charles Ankerbrand.

Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy. The Rev. Darell Gentry will officiate.

There will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Waynesboro Bible Church, 8216 Stottlemyer Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
