Because of a computer glitch at the Washington County Gaming Office, the tip jar sales figures for St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown were not included in the list of organizations operating tip jars that was published in Sunday's Herald-Mail.

The gaming office reports that the school sold 1,292 tip jars in fiscal year 2003, which ended June 30. Total sales for the school were $629,355; total proceeds from that were $103,533.

The added figures bring total tip jar sales for clubs in the county to 55,855 tip jars sold for fiscal 2003 with sales totaling more than $56.4 million and total proceeds of $6.85 million. Taverns keep 50 percent of their profits from tip jar sales, private clubs keep 85 percent and fire companies keep all their profit.

Of the rest, 50 percent goes to the Washington County Fire and Rescue Association for distribution to fire and rescue companies and the other 50 percent is distributed to local charities.
