Council wants planners to add road entrance to development

January 14, 2004|by GREGORY T. SIMMONS

Hagerstown City Council members on Tuesday asked planners to add another road entrance to the proposed 188-unit Hager's Crossing development.

The developer of Hager's Crossing, The Rachuba Group, is seeking a special zoning designation known as a PUD, or Planned Unit Development. A PUD typically allows higher-density development on a property than would be allowed under existing zoning. The council is expected to vote on that request later this month.

City Comprehensive Planner Stuart Bass said the current plans allow for an entrance to McDade Road, although there are no plans to connect the development's roads to McDade Road. There currently are two entrances for the development.

Council members asked Bass to include language in the zoning proposal to be voted on later this month that would require that entrance to be built.
