Safe boating course to be offered beginning Jan. 26

FUNKSTOWN - Gail Mongan, a 25-year member of The Hagerstown Power Squadron, announced at Monday night's Funkstown Mayor and Town Council meeting that the squadron will begin teaching a safe boating course beginning Monday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.

The course, open to those age 12 and older, will be held at Funkstown Town Hall, on its second floor, and will run for eight weeks. Registration will be Jan. 26 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Course materials, which meet the requirements of boating laws in Maryland and West Virginia, cost $45. A boating safety certificate will be issued after completion of the course and an exam.
