Bill and Gail Hemm of Bartlett, Ill., and formerly of Hagerstown, announce the engagement of their son, Justin Hemm, to Amanda Elzey, daughter of Ted and Ruth Elzey of Pond Village, Vt.

Ms. Elzey is a 1997 graduate of Randolph Union High School in Randolph, Vt., received a degree in international business from Salisbury State University and received a master's degree in business administration from Temple University. She is marketing director for a jewelry distribution company in Waltham, Mass.

Mr. Hemm is a 1997 graduate of North Hagerstown High School and received a degree in education from Salisbury State University in 2001. He is a teacher at the New England Center for Children in Southborough, Mass.

An October wedding is planned in Pond Village.


April Hine and Joseph Speakman of Martinsburg, W.Va., announce their engagement.

Ms. Hine is the daughter of Linda Hine of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Charles Hine of Ranson, W.Va. She is a 2001 graduate of Jefferson High School and is pursuing a degree in nursing at Shepherd College. She is employed with Martin's Grocery Store in Martinsburg.


Mr. Speakman is the son of Joseph and Karen Speakman of Gladwyne, Pa. He is a 1993 graduate of Lower Marion High School and a 1999 graduate of Penn State University. He is employed as a science teacher at Charles Town Middle School.

A July wedding is planned.


Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Dindinger of Charles Town, W.Va., and Royce Denham Jr. of Florida announce the engagement of their daughter, Suzanne Christine Denham, to Bradley John Smetzer, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Smetzer of Smithsburg.

Ms. Denham is employed as a chiropractic assistant for Herman Chiropractic Center of Waynesboro, Pa.

Mr. Smetzer is employed as a licensed funeral director at Collins Funeral Home of Silver Spring, Md.

An April 3 wedding is planned.
