FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick man was rushed into emergency surgery after suffering multiple gunshot wounds Sunday in a north end housing development, according to the Frederick Police Department.

Frederick Sgt. Clark Pennington said Justin D. Freland, 20, of the 1800 block of Beaver Creek Lane, was undergoing emergency surgery at Frederick Memorial Hospital late Sunday after he was shot multiple times, at least one time in the chest, early Sunday evening.

A hospital spokeswoman confirmed that Pennington was being treated there, but said no official condition was available late Sunday.

A department news release said the shooting occurred at approximately 5:55 p.m. in a recreational vehicle parking lot of the Amber Meadows community.

A witness told police the shooter entered the passenger's side of a small green vehicle that quickly drove away from the scene, according to the release. The release said two men, both of Frederick, were apprehended at about 8 p.m. in connection with the shooting.
