Interim executive director named for Rescue Service

Tory VanReenen, a Community Rescue Service board member, has been named interim executive director of CRS.

The board voted unanimously at its Dec. 17 meeting to appoint VanReenen to the position, CRS board member N. Linn Hendershot said.

She had volunteered to serve in the position.

VanReenen, the board treasurer, fills a vacancy that resulted when the board voted 6-2, at its Oct. 16, 2002, meeting, to let Executive Director J. Michael Nye go after two years in the position.

Since then board members, including VanReenen, have been taking on the responsibilities traditionally handled by the executive director, Hendershot and VanReenen said.

VanReenen will serve in the position while the board conducts a search for a permanent replacement, which Hendershot said is expected to take about 90 days.

VanReenen said she will be among those seeking the permanent position.

The board will decide at its January meeting how it will go about conducting its search, Hendershot and VanReenen said.
