MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A woman was killed and two men were injured in a two-car accident on Interstate 81 Thursday morning, a Berkeley County sheriff's deputy said.

The victims have not been identified, Deputy Willie Johnson said.

According to Johnson, a man and woman were northbound on the interstate near Exit 5 when they lost control of their blue 1989 Pontiac. It crossed the median and struck a southbound 1994 Honda nearly head-on, Johnson said.

The woman was ejected from the Pontiac. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson said he has been unable to identify the woman or the man in the car with her.

"I don't even know yet who was driving," he said.

He did not identify the male driver of the Honda, who was alone in that vehicle.

Neither man suffered life-threatening injuries and were expected to be treated and released from Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, Johnson said.

The accident occurred shortly before 5 a.m., he said.
