Lois D. Webster

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lois D. Hite Webster, 44, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at her home.

Born Aug. 15, 1959, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Donald E. and Emma Beaver.

She was assistant manager at Family Dollar.

She is survived by her husband, Paul L. Webster; three sons, Ronald Hite, Shaun Hite Sr. and Lewis Webster, all of Martinsburg; two brothers, Raymond Crawford of Stephens City, Va., and Ray Crawford of Inwood, W.Va.; and four grandchildren.

Services and burial will be private.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for expenses.

Henry H. Shockey

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Henry H. Shockey, 70, of 15937 Hollowell Church Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born June 3, 1933, in Ringgold, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mildred Pittman Shockey.

He was a 1952 graduate of Smithsburg High School.

He worked at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, and prior to retiring after 43 years of service, he worked in the purchasing department.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Welty Church of the Brethren, Smithsburg, where he served as church treasurer and deacon and was serving as church board chairman.

He was a member of Appalachian Gold Classic Car Club.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel B. Berrey Shockey, whom he married Aug. 4, 1957; one daughter, Cindy L. Martin of Waynesboro; one son, Michael H. Shockey of Waynesboro; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one infant sister, Cora A. Shockey; one brother, Leroy P. Shockey; and one grandson.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Welty Church of the Brethren, Smithsburg. The Rev. C. Dean Mouk will officiate. Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery.

It was his request to have no public viewing, but the family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Annabelle L. Izer

ZULLINGER, Pa. - Annabelle L. Helfrick Izer, 80, of 4616 Buchanan Trail East, P.O. Box 175, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Quincy (Pa.) United Methodist Home, where she had been a guest since Nov. 21.

Born Nov. 8, 1923, in Zullinger, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Hazel E. Scott Helfrick.

She was a 1941 graduate of Washington Township High School.

She worked with her husband in the family business, keeping books for Izer's Garage in Zullinger.

She was a member of Salem Church, Waynesboro, Pa.

She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1136 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1758, Ladies Auxiliary, both in Waynesboro, and National AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard E. Izer; two daughters, Linda A. Stoler of State Line, Pa., and Brenda J. Izer of Zullinger; one son, Kirk D. Izer of Bel Air, Md.; two stepdaughters, Eleanor Stuckey of Orlando, Fla., and Betty L. Staples of Virginia; one sister, Frances M. Wolford of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one brother, Charles E. Helfrick of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Estella Helfrick; one stepson, William E. Izer; stepgreat-grandson; brother, Fred R. Helfrick; and an infant brother, Robert Helfrick.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Lin Smalec will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Virginia C. Scott

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Virginia Catherine Scott, 96, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Extended Care Facility of Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.

Born Jan. 4, 1907, in Arlington, Va., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Katie Howard Violette.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Addison Warren Broy, and her second husband, Clarence Alfred Scott.

She was a retired file clerk with the U.S. government.

She was a member of Oakland (W.Va.) United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Ladies of the Moose Chapter 1311 and Ladies Auxiliary of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60, both of Berkeley Springs.

She is survived by three daughters, Elsie Walker of Alexandria, Va., Frances Roth of Greenbelt, Md., and Shirley Smythe of Shadyside, Md.; one son, James Broy of College Park, Md.; one brother, Louis Violette of Brentwood, Md.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
