MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Drew Crawford scored 17 points and had five assists for Smithsburg in a 57-43 loss to Biglerville Monday in the James Buchanan Holiday Tournament.

Nathan Steelman added 12 points for the Leopards (1-5).

James Buchanan 70, York County Tech 60

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Drew Hostler led James Buchanan over York County Tech in the James Buchanan Holiday Tournament with 19 points and 19 rebounds.

Shase Hollenshead added 15 points, three assists and three steals for the Rockets (3-7).

Middletown 47, Glenelg 42

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Joe Keimig had 11 points and nine assists for Middletown as the Knights defeated Glenelg in the Ron Engle Classic.

Jonathan Hall scored 14 points for Middletown (6-1).

Brunswick 54, S. Carroll 45

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Brunswick hit five of its seven 3-point attempts in the third quarter and the Railroaders evened their record with a victory over South Carroll in the first round of the Ron Engle Tournament.


Craig Wachter had 21 points, while Jason Anderson added 14 points and a team-high 18 rebounds for Brunswick (3-3). Chad Baker grabbed 10 rebounds and Bill Bernard had seven assists.

SJPH 58, Barrie School 32

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - St. John's at Prospect Hall overcame a sluggish first quarter to outscore Barrie School 20-2 in the second and defeat the Mustangs in the Gaithersburg Fight for Sight Tournament.

Al Sowers and Tanner Ellis each had 13 points to lead the Vikings (6-6).

Brandon Johnson led Barrie School with 24 points.

N. Oxford 56, Waynesboro 54

NEW OXFORD, Pa. - Earl Hewitt scored 17 points and Scott Livengood added 10 points for Waynesboro (2-7).

Pallotti 65, Frederick 61

FREDERICK, Md. - Robbie Davis had 23 points and seven rebounds for Frederick (3-2) in a loss to St. Vincent Pallotti in the Frederick Holiday Classic Tournament.

Walkersville 56, Meade 50

FREDERICK, Md. - Brock McCollum led Walkersville with 15 points, 11 rebounds and five assists as the Lions withstood a 20-4 fourth-quarter rally by Meade.

Luther Weedon scored 15 points, Dave Berry added six rebounds and five assists and Greg Mason had five steals for Walkersville (4-3).


James Buchanan 50, South Hagerstown 34

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Alicia Myers scored 12 points, Courtney West had 11 and Sarah Cristofano added 10 for James Buchanan in the Rockets' victory over South Hagerstown in the James Buchanan Christmas Tournament.

Tyrone 67, McConn'burg 42

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Hilary Menelis scored 30 points to lead Tyrone over McConnellsburg at the JB Christmas Tournament.

Jade Anthony had 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the Spartans (2-5). Kara Carmack had eight points and six rebounds.

Greencastle 46, P. Line 37

INDIANA, Pa. - Kris Root led all scorers with 17 points and also had six rebounds and three steals in Greencastle's victory over Purchase Line in the Penns Manor Christmas Tournament.

Emily Wissinger had 10 points, seven steals and four assists, while Jessica Stotler scored 10 points and Jess Ritchie added four steals and three assists for Greencastle (5-4).


Jefferson boys, girls win

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - Logan Zagarella set a Jefferson school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1 minute, 4.78 seconds - good for second - and the Cougars went on to defeat Clarke County in the boys meet, 108-21.

Ashley Holben led the girls team with victories in the 200 freestyle (2:30) and the 500 freestyle (7:02).

Both the Jefferson girls and boys teams are 2-0 in dual meets.


John Carroll 81, Hood 71

ASHLAND, Va. - John Carroll University placed five players in double figures and the Blue Streaks defeated Hood College in the Rees Jewelers Christmas Classic at Randolph-Macon College.

John Carroll - ranked 15th in NCAA Division II - outrebounded the Blazers, 53-33. Drew Salata, Jerry Angel, Brandon Mimes and Matt Moran each had 11 points and Mike Grogan had 10 for the Blue Streaks (8-1). Mimes also had 10 rebounds.

Santo Provenzano led Hood (2-3) with 22 points, while Sean Robine had 17 points and Dennis Tressler added 15. Robine and Tressler each grabbed eight rebounds and Darnell Edmonds dished out eight assists.
