Robin G. Hayes

GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Robin Gail Hayes, 47, of Gerrardstown, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Nov. 6, 1956, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of Paul E. Hayes Jr. of Gerrardstown and the late Lucille Brown Hayes.

In addition to her father, she is survived by one daughter, Misty D. Hayes of Glengary, W.Va.; two sisters, Carolyn Ballard of Vian, Okla., and Tina E. Smith of Gerrardstown; one brother, Edward Hayes of Gerrardstown; and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly G. Hayes; and one brother, Paul R. Hayes.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Don Preston will officiate. Burial will be in Tuscarora Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Harriet S. Sheffler

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Harriet Sagle Sheffler, 75, a resident of Beverly Healthcare, and formerly of 10880 Grindstone Hill Road in Greencastle, Pa., died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the nursing home.

Born March 17, 1928, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Harris and Ruth Mildred Athey Sagle. She was the adopted daughter of the late Harry and Ettie Brewbaker.

Her husband, Joseph N. Sheffler, died in 1978.

She was a 1946 graduate of Greencastle High School.

She retired from Fort Ritchie, where she served as secretary to the post commander.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Greencastle, where she was a member of the choir, and was on the greeter and hospitality committees.

She is survived by one brother, Bill Sagle of Hagerstown; one half brother, Raymond McAfee of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Brewbaker; and one brother, Bill Brewbaker.

Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. Pastor Stacy Crawford will officiate.

There will be no public viewing.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle.




Anna P. Jones

ORRSTOWN, Pa. - Anna Pearl Brandt Jones, 81, a resident of Orrstown Personal Care Home, and formerly of 104 1/2 Garfield St. in Waynesboro, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at the home.

Born Nov. 29, 1922, in Clayhill, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Maurice T. and Iva Pearl Mayhugh Brandt.

Her husband, Earl E. Jones, died Sept. 8, 1993. They were married Feb. 9, 1943.

She attended Brown's Mill School in Kauffman Station, Pa.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Wayne Heights Church of the Brethren in Waynesboro.

She was a member of National AARP.

She is survived by five daughters, Susan F. Skipper of Waynesboro, Patricia A. Novack of Madison, Va., Martha M. Jones of Richmond, Va., Doris J. Byrd of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Charlotte J. Vink of Chambersburg, Pa.; three sons, Robert E. Jones of East Berlin, Pa., Earl T. Jones of Greencastle, Pa., and Charles L. Jones of Waynesboro; one sister, Helen Beaver of Greencastle; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah J. Ricker; one son, David T. Jones; three sisters, Bessie Brechbill, Nellie Diffenderfer and Carrie Burkett; three brothers, John Brandt, Harry Brandt and the Rev. Maurice E. Brandt; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle. The Rev. Chalmer Hann will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church Cemetery, Coseytown, Pa.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Walter C. Johnson

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Walter Crawford "Click" Johnson, 71, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Nov. 14, 1932, in Culpeper, Va., he was the son of the late Russell and Lilly P. Hackley Johnson.

He was a pony boy at Charles Town Races.

He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Edna D. Downey of Charles Town; one son, James Price of Front Royal, Va.; two stepdaughters, Chaka McDaniel of Geneva, N.Y., and Shawna Roberts of Charles Town; four stepsons, Michael McDaniel and Maurice McDaniel, both of Charles Town, and William McDaniel and Franklin McDaniel, both of Baltimore; one sister, Gladys Nokes of Front Royal; one brother, Frank Johnson of Culpeper; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Margaret Vivian Johnson and Regina Marie Johnson; three sons, Taylor Downey, Keith Downey and David Price; and four sisters, Lillie Jackson, Mary Wilson, Georgie Boxlize and Kate Nokes.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. William Lithicum will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the services at the funeral home.
