Man, woman charged in Pa. armed robbery


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police charged a man and a woman in connection with a robbery early Tuesday in Antrim Township, Pa.

Police said the robbery occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Sheller Road when Juanita Anderson, 32, of Baltimore, and Andrew Glover, 35, of Hagerstown, were robbed at gunpoint by a man and a woman who demanded cash.

Police charged Karen Perry, 31, of 137 N. Franklin St., Chambersburg, Pa., and Bruce Powell, 35, of 173 Bonita Drive, Greensburg, Pa., with robbery, criminal conspiracy and theft, according to District Justice Shirley Shatzer's office. Powell was also charged with simple assault, according to Shatzer's office.

Both were jailed in Franklin County Prison on $55,000 bond, according to police.




Presents stolen from girl walking to school


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A man who robbed a girl Tuesday of presents she was taking to a school Christmas party is being sought by Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said the robbery occurred at about 7:15 a.m. as the girl was walking from her home to a school bus stop on Sycamore Grove Road in Greene Township, Pa. A man in a gray or black four-door sedan drove up to the girl, got out of the car, said "Merry Christmas" and grabbed the bag of presents, according to police.

Police said the man is white, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and has brown eyes. Anyone with information about the identity of the robber may call police at 717-264-5161.




Four more charged in Pa. drug sweep


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Borough police have arrested four more people as a result of a drug sweep that began Friday.

Police culminated a nine-month investigation of street-level drug dealers Friday with the arrest of 10 of 27 people being sought. Since then, another four have been arrested, police said.

Police charged the following:

-- Robert Ardell Thomas, no fixed address, two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication device.

-- Shane Reed, no fixed address, one count of delivery and two counts of criminal use of a communication device.

-- Mary Jane Hinton, address unavailable, Chambersburg, two counts each of delivery and criminal use of a communication device.

-- Barry Butler, 103 Bay Metal Court, Lexington, N.C., delivery and criminal use of a communication device.




Two charged in pizza delivery man's robbery


Two people have been charged in the Dec. 2 robbery of a Pizza Hut delivery person, the Hagerstown Police Department said.

Brandon Lee Hoppe, 19, of 421-E Sumans Ave., was charged with one count of robbery, one count of second-degree assault and one count of theft under $500, police said.

A 17-year-old Clear Spring boy was charged with the same offenses and released to his parents, police said.

The delivery person told police he was robbed of pizza as he was trying to make a delivery to 689 Hayes Ave., police said.




Robber steals money from W.Va. 7-Eleven


MARLOWE, W.Va. - A man robbed the 7-Eleven in Marlowe early Thursday by demanding money from a clerk, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department.

Cpl. Daniel Steerman said Thursday night that police were not yet releasing a description of the robber or his getaway vehicle.

Steerman said the man went up to a clerk at about 2 a.m. and insisted that she give him money. The clerk thought the man might have been joking, but he told her that he wasn't.

He neither showed a weapon nor implied that he had one, Steerman said.

The man stole a small amount of money, he said.




Woman injured in Greencastle Pike crash


A Williamsport woman was taken to Washington County Hospital after her vehicle overturned just before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning on Greencastle Pike near Huyetts Crossroads, Maryland State Police in Hagerstown said.

Police said Kristeen Jones, 40, received minor injuries in the crash near the intersection of Greencastle Pike and Resh Road.

A Washington County Hospital spokeswoman said Jones was not on a patient list Thursday evening.




Men evaluated after vandalism call


FREDERICK, Md. - Two males - one who removed his clothes and another wearing only pants - were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for medical and psychological evaluations after police allegedly found them disturbing neighbors and vandalizing vehicles early Wednesday, police said.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Police responded to the 3600 block of Singleton Terrace for a report on disorderly conduct at about 3 a.m. Wednesday when they found the males.




Pa. police looking for stolen vehicle


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are looking for a vehicle stolen from a Montgomery Township home Monday or Tuesday.

According to police, the 1997 Mitsubishi Montero was stolen from a Secrist Drive residence between 3 p.m. and 7 a.m. Police said the vehicle had been left unlocked and the keys were in the ignition.

Vehicle reported stolen is recovered


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A vehicle reported stolen Tuesday later was recovered in Hamilton Township, Pa., according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The 2000 Chevy Metro belonging to Mid State Products of Harrisburg, Pa., was reported stolen by Chambersburg police, according to state police. It was found on Gilbert Road at about 6 p.m., police said.
