Martha M. Wingert


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Martha M. Myers Wingert, 93, of Penn Hall Assisted Living Center and formerly of Edgar Avenue, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at her home.

Born May 18, 1910, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Ambrose and Amelia Martin Myers.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Amos B. Wingert, in 1969. They were married Dec. 25, 1931. She was preceded in death by her second husband, George B. Wingert, in 1995. They were married Feb. 13, 1972.

She had been employed by Nibble With Gibbles near Chambersburg.

She was a member of New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church in Chambersburg. She attended Antrim Brethren in Christ Church near Chambersburg, where she taught Sunday School and helped to start the Sunday School program at Antrim Church.

She was a volunteer of the Bible Release Time at Camp Joy-El; Meals-On-Wheels of Chambersburg; and was a local missions leader.

She is survived by two daughters, Joann C. Wingert of Palmyra, Pa., and Freda R. Bowers of Chambersburg; three sons, G. Elwood Wingert and Leroy M. Wingert, both of Greencastle, Pa., and Eber S. Wingert of Chambersburg; two stepchildren, Vera Williams of State College, Pa., and Marlin Wingert of Fayetteville, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church in Chambersburg. The Rev. Maurice A. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in the old Antrim Church Cemetery in Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home in Greencastle, and Monday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Ricky W. Presley


Ricky Wayne Presley, 42, of 918 Marshall St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at his home.

Born March 7, 1961, in Olney, Md., he was the son of Harold Wayne and Lila Rhea Bonham Presley of Hagerstown.

He was a Protestant.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Angela S. Presley of Williamsport; maternal grandmother, Hazel E. Bonham; one niece; one nephew; aunts and uncles.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. William Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.

The family will receive friends Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.




Robbie Z. Toms


THURMONT, Md. - Robbie Zell "Mimi" Toms, 64, of Thurmont, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Born July 26, 1939, in Philadelphia, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Clois G. and Whitney Tate Clark.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald D. Toms, whom she married June 12, 1956; two daughters, Rhonda Smith of Herndon, Va., and Beverly Sweeney of Thurmont; two sons, Kenneth Toms of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Jerry Toms of Caledonia, Miss.; two sisters, Sarah Preston of Ironton, Pa., and twin sister, Bobbie Mills of Tupelo, Miss.; three brothers, Clois Clark Jr. of Athens, Ala., Hugh Clark of Pensacola, Fla., and Kenneth Clark of Flint, Mich.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home in Thurmont. The Rev. Bill Kercheval will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Bethel Cemetery in Foxville, Md.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 1 p.m.

William D. Walker Sr.


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - William D. "Doug" Walker Sr., 61, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, of cancer.

Born June 15, 1942, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late George D. and Virginia Fortney Walker.

He was the manager of the pressroom at the Northern Virginia Daily Newspaper.

He attended Mountainside Tabernacle, where he was a member of The Living Waters Ministry and Messengers of Praise Gospel Music Ministry.

He was a member of Big Lick Sportsmen's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Butts Walker; one daughter, Kathy R. Householder of Martinsburg; two sons, William D. Walker Jr. of Martinsburg and John C. Walker of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one brother, James K. Walker of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert D. Walker; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Edward Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Mountainside Tabernacle Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
