Dorothy E. Grumbine


Dorothy Elizabeth Grumbine, 85, of 925 St. Clair St. in Hagerstown, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 7, 1918, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Beard Bingaman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin S. Grumbine, in 1988.

She was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.

She operated Mason Dixon Travel Club.

She is survived by one son, Charles F. Grumbine of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren, Angela L. Grumbine and C. Brent Grumbine, both of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward L. Poling will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Clyde W. Stoner


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Clyde W. Stoner, 77, of 2640 Williamson Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Feb. 4, 1926, in Upton, Pa., he was the son of the late Jacob and Lottie Henninger Stoner.

He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg after 35 years of service.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a Protestant.

He was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373 of Greencastle; a former member of Chambersburg AMVETS Post 224; and a member of Minnequa Club of Shippensburg, Pa.

He owned and was a mechanic of race cars that ran locally at St. Thomas, Pa., and Hagerstown race tracks.

He is survived by his wife, Eva C. Souders Stoner, whom he married June 2, 1945; one daughter, Lucille Sellers of Chambersburg; three sons, Glen C. Stoner, Dale L. Stoner and Jeffrey E. Stoner, all of Greencastle; one stepdaughter, Patricia J. Daley of Greencastle; three sisters, Gladys Keefer of Mercersburg, Pa., Ruth Elliott of Greencastle, and Patricia Mellott of St. Thomas; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer Guitners Untied Brethren Church, Greencastle. The Rev. Ralph L. Fry Jr. will officiate. Burial with military honors by Chambersburg VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, and Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Ashley N. Risinger


HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Ashley Nicole Risinger, 20, of Hedgesville, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident.

Born June 5, 1983, in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of Steve and Sondra Avey Risinger of Hedgesville.

She was a 2001 graduate of Berkeley Springs (W.Va.) High School.

She was employed by Aker Plastics.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Chad Risinger; grandparents, Mike Watson and Thelma Watson, both of Brandywine, W.Va., and Mary Risinger of Hedgesville; aunts; uncles; cousins; and her boyfriend, Jeff Griffith of Hedgesville.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Eddie Risinger.

Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Michael Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Morgan County, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Robert E. Himes


Robert Evans Himes, 73, of Oak Hill Avenue in Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born Sept. 9, 1930, in Washington County, Md., he was the son of the late Robley E. and Charlotte A. Baer Himes.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He retired from the Hagerstown Paint and Glass Co.

He was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by two sons, David K. Himes and wife, Vicki, of Knoxville, Md., and Brian W. Himes and wife, Kim, of Knoxville; four grandchildren, Amy Folden and husband, Bill, of Jefferson, Md., Kris Himes and Melissa Himes, both of Boonsboro, Md., and Chaz Himes of Hagerstown; five great-grandchildren, Bryn Folden and Blake Folden, both of Jefferson, Bailey Himes of Hagerstown, and Alyssa Himes and Austin Himes, both of Boonsboro; stepgranddaughter, Whitney Furr of Knoxville; and many friends in the Hagerstown and Harrisburg, Pa. area.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Brownsville Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Dan Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers; memorial donations may be made to Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, MD 21715.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
