The Washington County Board of Education met briefly Tuesday afternoon to approve a list of staff changes in schools and the central office:

  • Fifteen people were hired as teachers.

  • One elementary resource teacher, Kristin T. Nye, was hired to work in the central office's Center for Peak Performance and Productivity.

  • One art teacher, Thomas Renner, was transferred from Fountain Rock and Greenbrier elementary schools to Eastern Elementary School.

  • One math teacher, Erin Rounds, was transferred from Clear Spring Middle to Clear Spring High School.

The school board approved the retirements of four teachers and one media specialist.

Carol Mowen, the school system's public information officer, said 13 of the new employees received their teaching certificates and degrees in December.

She said that a mini-orientation will be held for the new teachers in January.
